Vice Mayor, Curtis R. Milteer, Sr. is a native of Suffolk, Virginia. He was educated in the public schools of Suffolk, and is a graduate of East Suffolk High School. He completed further studies at the P.D. Pruden Vocational Technical Center, Tidewater Community College, and Norfolk States University. In March of 1984, he was the recipient of the Jessie Rattley Politician Action Award. This award is for outstanding contribution in the field of Politics. He is the first Afro-American to be elected seven consecutive terms in the history of City of Suffolk. He is married to Sarah W. Milteer, and the father of four children. Vice Mayor Milteer is a member of St. Mark Episcopal Church and a Vestry Member. He formally retired from Naval Air Rework Facility as a supervisor. He is known to others as a man of dignity, integrity and tolerance.
