(from candidate's website) Andy Damiani is not the new kid on the block. He is a tried and true veteran supporter of Suffolk, a long-time City Councilman, and a previous Mayor of Suffolk. He knows the city, he knows the people, and he works to serve. His history is a proud testament to that, as reflected in numerous newspaper articles written about his activities. But there is more than yesterday to Damiani. Andy keeps his head in today, and today’s issues facing the community, such as, the importance of being green. In a recent Suffolk News Herald article discussing the city council’s stand on the re-implementation of a curbside recycling program, Andy was quoted, as saying, "It is the responsibility of the city to promote it (recycling) ... and get people into reusing materials rather than putting them into the landfill." But, as always, Andy is more than just words. At the time the article was written, he already had 600 people signed up on an on-line petition drive to bring curbside recycling back to the city.
