(from candidate's website) I was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1979, and raised by my divorced single mother in Hebron, a small town on Maryland's Eastern Shore. My first job at the age of 10, working on a chicken farm, was the start of my life lesson on work ethic. This trait has stayed with me through all my endeavors. I started paying taxes by the age of 11, so I realize the importance of being a good custodian of public funds. My mother enrolled me in the Big Brothers program when I was 11, where I was introduced to Andy Jones, who used his experience as a lacrosse coach at Salisbury University to serve as a mentor. He taught me everything from putting a napkin in my lap at dinner to stock options, and we remain very close. After graduating from high school, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy with the goal of becoming a SEAL. My eight years at SEAL TEAM FOUR gave me the opportunity to travel in many regions of the world, learn to speak fluent Spanish, and to serve in the war in Iraq. I came to Virginia Beach with the SEAL TEAM in 1998, during which time I began investing in real estate, and earned my license to become a broker and established www.neptuneblu.comand Neptune Development Company. I left the SEALS in 2005, and have been devoting my full time efforts to real estate and development in our community. My careers have allowed me to develop an understanding of the needs of Virginia Beach. As I work and interact with attorneys, real estate companies, laborers, military personnel and their families, teachers, members of the hospitality industry, policemen, firemen, and business owners, I keep hearing the same theme, that there is a need for change in our City. I feel I have developed the insight and discipline to guide Virginia Beach toward becoming a more dynamic community that will enhance the opportunities for our citizens. I have been blessed with a family and mentors that have encouraged me to pursue my dreams, and my travels with my SEAL TEAM have taught me that we are fortunate to live in a society that is open and provides opportunities for every person who is willing to work for their goals. It is in this spirit that I have decided to enter the political arena as a candidate for Mayor of Virginia Beach, and will devote my ethics, experience, and love of my country and community to this campaign.
